
On December 17th 2009, the Council of Representatives of the National Minimum Wage Commission decided on a general increase to the minimum wages of the 3 geographical areas as of January 1st 2010, so such will be as follows:
- Geographical Area “A”: $57.46
- Geographical Area “B”: $55.84
- Geographical Area “C”: $54.47
All minimum salaries for professions and occupations have been increased in the same percentage.
The Council of Representatives agreed to maintain during 2010, the current municipal integration of geographical areas for the implementation of minimum wages.
As for lists of professions, occupations and special works for which a minimum professional wage is fixed, the Council agreed to update the definition of radio-repairer, electronic and electrical equipment repairer and integrate the occupations of masonry, carpenter and construction blacksmith (fierrero) into a single category called ”Masonry Officer” (Oficial de Albañilería).
Special workers such as classifying Archivist, Accountant Assistant and clinical analysis laboratories Assistant as well as the occupations as plane machine operator; casting machines operator; punching machines in metal work operator, plastic molding operator; mechanical milling and grinding official operator, have been deleted from the list of professions, occupations and special assignments.
